Our Supervisors

Jer Roberson-Strange, MSW, LCSW Supervisor

Jer graduated from UNLV with her master's in social work in 2012 and is currently a Doctoral student in Public Policy.  Her LCSW work has included infants, teens, seniors, individuals with spectrum-related diagnoses, LGBTQIA++ community members, and end-of-life therapy. 

She is thankful for the opportunity Glimmer provides me to be passionate about working with "invisible" populations and utilizing direct practice opportunities to make macro changes.

Valerie Duque MSW, LCSW, Clinical Director

Valerie Duque is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and has called Las Vegas home for 20 years. She graduated from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, with a Bachelor’s in Early Childhood Education in 2008 and a Master’s in Social Work with an emphasis in Direct Practice in 2012. 

Valerie’s clinical experience includes working for the Department of Children and Family Services, and Child Protective Services, and working as a victim advocate for the District Attorney’s office in Clark County. She has worked with various populations, ages, and ethnicities. Valerie also provides clinical supervision for clinical social work interns for the Nevada Board of Examiners of Social Work.

Valerie works with children, adults, and families who have concerns with trauma, mood disorders, crisis management, and addiction. Valerie is particularly passionate about early childhood mental health. She has extensive experience providing therapy for children who are from birth to eight years old and have been victims of abuse and/or neglect. 

Valerie has an eclectic approach to mental health and wellness, utilizing modalities such as CBT, TF-CBT,  strength-based interventions, and play therapy techniques. 

Geena Springmann, MSW, LCSW Supervisor

Geena Springmann earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Child and Family Studies from LSU (Geaux Tigers!) and her Master of Social Work degree from UNLV. She has held an LCSW license since 2020. Geena finds fulfillment in her work with children who consistently demonstrate thoughtfulness, compassion, and determination in the face of past traumas. She feels grateful to play a role in their journeys and hopes to provide them with essential support.

Marisa Marano, MSW, LCSW Supervisor

Marisa Marano is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in the state of Nevada. She graduated in 2011 from UNLV with a master’s in social work and a focus on direct practice. Marisa loves supervising clinical social work interns as she is an avid learner and a “nerd” for research and evidence-based practices. Marisa has experience working with various clients, diagnoses, and life transitions. Marisa advocates for gun violence prevention, LGBTQIA++ communities, and Nevada's foster youth.

Marisa loves working for Glimmer because she truly believes everyone deserves to have a glimmer of hope.
